Lego's are a specific brand of interlocking blocks. Almost everyone in a civilized country knows that these popular toys are perfect for any child on the planet. Lego's hit the market in a big way and have continued to fascinate children for years. They are classic toys that you probably enjoyed as a child and likely still enjoy with your children. One of the best things about Lego's is that they are perfect for boys and girls. No matter who the birthday child is, or their gender; you can always count on Lego's to be a great gift to bring to the party. There are certain things that may appeal more to one gender or the other however. Take a look at these suggestions and use them when purchasing Lego sets as a gift.
Age Appropriate Sets
Putting gender completely aside, you should be aware that the traditional Lego sets are not appropriate for all ages. They contain small blocks that can be easily swallowed. In addition, they are often difficult for younger children to work with. This being true, the company has created several lines of Lego's for all age groups. You can find larger Lego's that are best for younger children. They are not easily swallowed and are great for children three and under. They also have a middle of the line series that works pretty good for younger grade school children. These are children that are not likely to swallow the Lego's but they may be frustrated with the difficulty level of the original sets. Then of course, you can get the classic Lego sets that older children as well as adults love to build with.
Preferred Boy Sets
While classic Lego sets will work for either a boy or a girl, there is no doubt that the company makes specific sets for each gender. A little boy would probably be more than thrilled to get a Star Wars Lego set, which a little girl might not. With the world being a little easier on gender identity when it comes to toys, there is nothing wrong with a little girl getting a set such as this. The thing is whether or not she will enjoy it. Lego also makes Bob the Builder sets, Batman sets, dinosaur sets, and much more. The lists of Lego sets go on for miles.

The Lego Company really does not offer as many sets targeted to girls as they to boys. They do have two popular sets that were created with girls in mind however. Belville is somewhat of a Barbie doll of Lego's. It is a mermaid set that has mermaid castles and other accessories for little girls to enjoy. This is a set that girls of all ages would likely enjoy. The other series they have that targets girls is the Clikits series. It is not like a traditional Lego set. Instead it is interlocking blocks and beads that are used to create jewelry, hair accessories, and much more. This is a Lego series that will even be popular with older children and pre-teens.
Great For Everyone
While some toy companies choose to stereotype children by gender and target only one gender, Lego has never done that. They have always advertised their classic sets to be great for both girls and boys. Lately they have created these specialty kits mentioned above, however they are still offering classic sets. This is a company that really does have something for everyone. Girls and boys love to build things with Lego's. These fun interlocking blocks are the perfect way to allow your children to use their creativity and imagination to create a make believe world of their own.
Use Them As Gifts
Another great thing is that even if you don't know the gender of a child you must purchase a gift for; you can get a classic Lego set and be good to go. Sometimes when you are donating toys during the holidays, choosing a unisex toy such as Lego's is a great idea. That way, no matter if the charity receives more boy toys than girl toys, they can always use a Lego set for either gendered child. You can also stock up on these sets when you catch them on sale and use them for birthday gifts during parties your children are invited to throughout the year.
