Teacher Gift Ideas

I am one of those people who always has problems knowing who I am supposed to tip and who I am supposed to give a gift to. I always like to get my mail carrier something each year, and try to tip all of the right people. My daughter will start school next year, and I do know that I will be looking for teacher gift ideas for when the holidays roll around. If there’s one person I know I’m going to appreciate, it is my daughter’s teacher. I often think that teachers are under-valued and under-appreciated. I want to teach my daughter to appreciate her teacher, and I hope that is something that will stick with her through life.

If you’re looking for teacher gift ideas, you may want to consider the personality of your child’s teacher. Though there are some teachers who do rather well, for the most part, many of them struggle to make ends meet. Though there’s nothing you can do to help them with this, you may want to remember that they are under a lot of stress. You may want to find teacher gift ideas that may afford them some relaxation, or perhaps some free time.

 Bit of History
Among the many gifts I showered on Martin, I was careful not to include talent. How easy it would have been to make him an artist, a writer; how hard not to let him be one, while bestowing on him the keen sensitivity that one generally associates with the creative creature; how cruel to prevent him from finding in art—not an “escape” (which is only a cleaner cell on a quieter floor)You were born into a different world that will present you with different gifts and challenges. A new vision of manhood will be called for that does not tie so closely into the more aggressive and competitive residues of our male character. You will need to search out new ways of expressing strength, showing mastery, and exhibiting courage—ways that do not depend upon confronting the world before you as an adversary.
—Kent Nerburn (20th century)

There are other teacher gift ideas that are more practical. If you know that the teacher is struggling with supplies, you may want to donate some supplies to your child’s classroom. You may want to talk to the teacher to see what it is that they need. Though these teacher gift ideas are not necessarily for the teacher, you may find that they are very grateful. A lot of times they have a hard time teaching their children the way they want to because they are limited by what their school will allow them to do financially.

You also want to encourage your child to give something to their teacher to show appreciation each year. These teacher gift ideas will be much more inexpensive, and can be something that your child chooses on their own. They only have to spend a few dollars to show their teacher that they appreciate them. There may be even some sections of the store that are devoted to teacher gift ideas. If you can’t find such a thing, just look around and remember that teachers are human too. Though children may not often see teachers as wives or mothers, husbands or fathers, they are the same as everyone else. Even a box of nice chocolates would be an appreciated gift by almost any teacher.
