What comes to your mind when you think of inexpensive toy for boys and girls? Do you think of cheaply manufactured toys that will break almost as soon as the packaging is removed? Do you imagine boring toys that will nary get a second look once they wrapping paper is removed? Well, think again! Here is a list of eight fund and inexpensive toys for boys and girls that will not only be loved, but also used time and again.

1. For the toddler, there is the wooden building block set. For less than ten dollars, this timeless toy not only promises years and years of fun, but also its fifty colorful blocks adorned with numbers and letters allow for educational play. Toddlers love to build towers with these blocks and later on will enjoy displaying their newfound abilities of counting and spelling.

2. Another favorite for toddlers is the take along tool kit. Realistically shaped wooden toys allow little hands to grasp and at the same time allow little minds to learn about the usages of different tools for different jobs. Costing less than ten dollars, this toy is durable and versatile, and promises years of fun.

3. Once toddlers have turned into tots, they are ready to explore other toys and challenges. Take the classic game of UNO, for example. Combine UNO with Sponge Bob Square Pants, and for less than ten dollars you will find endless hours of entertainment with your tot.

4. Toddlers also enjoy Lite Brite Flat screens! Since this toy does contain small pieces, it is imperative to make sure that your tot is able to play with them without sticking them into her or his mouth. For less than ten dollars, this flat screen allows your tot to create colorful images and let her or his imagination go wild!

5. Once your tot enters the elementary school years, it is time to kick into gear that sense of role-play and fashion awareness. Little girls love to play with cloth dolls that come with a variety of outfits. For less than ten dollars, you simply cannot go wrong on this one!

 Historical Quote
The daily arguments over putting away the toys or practicing the piano defeat us so easily. We see them coming yet they frustrate us time and time again. In many cases, we are mothers and fathers who have managed budgets and unruly bosses and done difficult jobs well through sheer tenacity and dogged preparation. So why are we unable to persuade someone three feet tall to step into six inches of water at bathtime?
—Cathy Rindner Tempelsman (20th century)

6. Board games are another favorite for this age group. Of course, it is important not to frustrate young learners, but with the Pegs in the Park game, even the youngest learners will enjoy the process. For less than ten dollars, children who do not yet know how to read well will be able to nonetheless participate in some competitive fun. Counting and small motor skills are the only requirements for this fun and entertaining game.

7. Of course, once your elementary school aged child gets a bit older, the peer group suddenly becomes incredibly important. Sleepovers become the norm rather than the exception, and activities may be hard to come by. Less than ten dollars will buy your child an interactive activity book that will all but guarantee a successful slumber party with all the trimmings! This is a program and activity that works with the Fly Pentop Computer.

8. Another game that is associated with the Fly Pentop Computer is an activity pack that includes word games, trivia games, as well as brainteasers, word searches, and hangman. This is a great toy, which you may buy for less than ten dollars, that guarantees hours of fun, learning, excitement, and more!

As you can see, inexpensive does not have to be synonymous with junk. As a matter of fact, entertainment value cannot be measured in dollars and cents, and instead it is the activity that counts. Will the toy provide a practical application? Will it bring enjoyment to your boy or girl, and will your child benefit from having played with it. Sure, you could spend hundreds of dollars on the latest and greatest toys, but is this truly necessary to guarantee your child's fun, learning, and interactive play? Obviously, the answer is a resounding "no." Money does not give you or your child any guarantees, and as a matter of fact, your child's closet is probably filled with expensive toys that were unpacked and played with once or twice and then discarded in favor of a less expensive replacement. So go ahead, and spend a little bit of money instead of a lot and watch your child play and have fun!
