by Orsola Wilder
Remote control toys are nearly always a hit with kids, no matter the age. In fact, many kids will have to battle their own parents for playtime with their new remote control toy! Thankfully, there are plenty of remote control toys on the market, with something available for everyone.
Child's First Remote Control Car
The "Child's First Remote Control Car" is made by Chicco. This adorable toy is very durable and makes a great choice for your child's first battery-powered Remote Control Car. The toy is easy to maneuver, even with little hands, and is capable of moving the car forward in a straight direction, as well as driving left to right. It can also be moved in reverse in a straight direction. The remote control can also be conveniently attached to the car when it is not being used and its antennae doubles as a handle.
Big Foot Ragin Monster Remote Control
The "Big Foot Ragin Monster Remote Control" by MGA Entertainment is great for the child who has graduated from the beginner remote control car, but still fun enough to keep upper elementary-aged children entertained. To add to the fun, this remote control toy is capable of performing off road and performing awesome stunts. Your kids will enjoy making it bounce through rough terrain and making it perform 360-degree spins on either its front or rear wheels. It can even balance on one wheel. This toy does require a 9.6 Volt Nic battery, which is not included.
Mercedes Benz SLR Mclaren Remote Control
The "Mercedes Benz Mclaren Remote Control" car by Rebel Toys will be a hit with any teenager. This car is modeled after the very popular, and very expensive, real life car of the same name. Just being the proud owner of a Mclaren is enough to please most teenagers. To make it even more enticing, the wheelbase is adjustable and the transmitter and batteries are included. Your teenager will enjoy taking this remote control car about and tweaking it to get the best speed and reaction.
| Quote of the Day |
Scarfs, garters, gold, amuse his riper stage, And beads and prayer-books are the toys of age: Pleased with this bauble still, as that before; Till tired he sleeps, and lifes poor play is oer.

Commando Challenge Remote Control 2 Tank Set
The "Commando Challenge Remote Control 2 Tank Set" by Interactive Toy Concepts LTD is an awesome toy for elementary children and teenagers. This toy is a great choice for a family with two kids or with a parent who likes to join in the fun because it includes 2 tanks that can battle it out. These tanks are a 1:33 scale replica of the real thing and even include realistic sound, smoke, and lighting effects. The tanks are capable of moving over most types of terrain and can move in any direction. Action figures are also included in the set. After the tank is hit four times in battle, the action figure is ejected from the seat. Each tank has its own wireless control on independent frequencies, which makes it possible for both to run at the same time without interruption from the other controller. Fourteen AA batteries are needed to control the tanks.
Micro Flyers RTF Remote Control Airplane
The "Micro Flyers RTF Remote Control Airplane" by Watt-Age is a great choice for any elementary aged or teenage child who is interested in flying. This remote control airplane is the smallest mass-produced toy of its kind. It is simple to use, making it great for beginners to remote control aircraft. Yet, it is advanced enough to please the avid hobbyist. The airplane is actually quite small, with only a 9-inch wingspan. Yet, the plane is highly maneuverable with its two-channel radio transmitter control and has a range of 150 feet. The user is able to control the throttle and the rudder movement and can get over 6 minutes of flying time from one charge. In addition, the controller doubles as a battery charger for the 150mAH LiPo battery that is included. The small size makes it possible to fly the plane both indoors and out.
Shell Shocker
The "Shell Shocker" by Tyco R/C is an incredible machine capable of undergoing "shocking" transformations. Through its innovative design, the Shell Shocker can change from a ball shape into a beast capable of driving on grass, mud, and pavement. It also utilizes a large front wheel, making it capable of flipping and driving over obstacles. The manufacture suggests this toy for children over 8, though younger children will certainly enjoy playing with it and watching it in action. The controls, however, may be a little too complicated for younger children. Nonetheless, the entire family will be thoroughly entertained with this remote control toy. You will need to purchase a separate Tyco ProFlex BP&C battery for the toy.
